Taking the first step toward counseling can feel overwhelming — but it doesn’t have to be. This page walks you through exactly what to expect from the moment you reach out to your first session and beyond, so you can focus on what matters most: taking care of yourself.
Step 1: Reach Out
To get started, simply click the Connect page and submit a request with your name, phone number, and email address. You do not need to enter insurance or payment information — if the system prompts you for it, you can skip it. All we need is your basic contact information to get the ball rolling.
All scheduling requests and questions will be responded to within 48 hours, Monday through Friday. Messages received after 4:00 PM on Fridays will be returned by end of day Monday.
Step 2: Schedule Free 15-Minute Consultation
Once I receive your request, we will schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. This is a no-pressure conversation where you can ask questions, get a feel for my approach, and decide whether moving forward feels right for you. If you experience any technical difficulties, you can always reach me by text at 321-244-7550.
Step 3:Paperwork & Scheduling
Once we decide to move forward, I will send you a few important documents through our secure client portal. These include your rights as a client, a description of the services I will provide, and required healthcare disclosures. All of this is handled through Simple Practice, a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform that serves as your one-stop shop for scheduling, paperwork, bill pay, secure messaging, and telehealth video sessions.
Step 4: Your First Session
Your first full session is all about getting to know you. I will gather some background information and learn about anything that may be relevant to our work together. If you already have goals in mind or areas you would like to focus on, this is a great time to share them — but if you are not sure yet, that is completely okay too. We can take time to discover that together.
There is nothing to be scared of. I consider you the expert on you, and this is simply your chance to teach me about yourself. My job is to listen, ask the right questions, and help us find the best path forward together.
Where To Have Your Session
One of the greatest benefits of telehealth is the flexibility it offers. Sessions can be conducted from anywhere you feel comfortable and have a reliable internet connection. Many clients choose to meet from the comfort of their own home, while others find a quiet spot during a lunch break, step outside to a peaceful outdoor space, or sit in their parked car for added privacy. Wherever you choose, the most important things are that you feel at ease and are unlikely to be interrupted.
Payment & Cancellation Policy
Payment is due by credit card 24 hours prior to your scheduled session through the Simple Practice client portal.
I understand that life happens and sometimes things don’t go as planned. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before your session whenever possible. As a courtesy, I allow one missed or late-cancelled session without a fee. After that, late cancellations and no-shows will be subject to a cancellation fee. If you do not contact me prior to a missed session, the session fee will not be refunded.
My goal is to make this process as flexible and stress-free as possible while also being respectful of both of our time. If something comes up, please just reach out — we will figure it out together.
